Steady & Strong Wellness exists for one simple reason: to help mamas and families feel stronger, calmer, and more capable in real life. No extremes, no guilt, no “bounce back.” Just clear, evidence-based guidance, designed beautifully enough that you actually want to use it.
Hi, I’m Katelyn
I’m a designer by trade and a mom by heart, and somewhere between those two roles I discovered how much feeling strong in my own body mattered.
Before I became a mom, healthy living was something I cared about but often approached in bursts: a new routine here, a fresh start there. Pregnancy changed that. Suddenly, the way I moved and the way I nourished myself weren’t about how I looked or hitting some number. They were about feeling steady on my feet, sleeping a little better, handling the aches and the exhaustion, and walking into each new week with a bit more confidence.
What surprised me most was how hard it was to find guidance that felt both trustworthy and kind. Some of what I came across was fear-based, a long list of things I “couldn’t” do. Some of it was the opposite, pushing intensity or aesthetics that had nothing to do with where I actually was. And a lot of it was scattered across dozens of tabs, contradicting itself as I scrolled.
So I started doing what designers do: I gathered, organized, and simplified. I read the guidelines from organizations like the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. I asked my own healthcare providers a lot of questions. I kept notes, made myself checklists and weekly plans, and slowly built a way of moving and eating that fit my season of life instead of fighting it.
Early motherhood tested all of it. There were weeks when a ten-minute walk with the stroller was the whole workout, and weeks when dinner was assembled rather than cooked. But I learned that consistency doesn’t mean perfection. Small, steady habits added up. Feeling strong, physically and mentally, changed how I showed up for my family and for myself. That’s when the phrase that guides everything here really clicked for me: progress over perfection.
Why I built Steady & Strong
Steady & Strong Wellness is where my three passions meet: healthy living, design, and motherhood.
As a designer, I believe that how information is presented changes whether people use it. A wall of text or a cluttered spreadsheet is easy to ignore. A clear, calm, beautiful page you can print and stick on the fridge? That becomes part of your week. As a mom, I know how little time and energy most of us have, and how much we want to get it right for our families. And as someone who has made healthy living a steady part of real life (not a project to finish), I know that the basics, done consistently, are what really move the needle.
I wanted to create the resources I wished I’d had: guides rooted in credible research, written like a friend who’s done the homework, and designed to be genuinely pleasant to use. That grew beyond pregnancy, too, because strength and nourishment matter for the whole family, from postpartum mamas to partners, teens, and little ones learning to love movement.
Our mission
Our mission is to make evidence-based strength, nutrition, and mindfulness guidance simple, beautiful, and doable for mamas and families in every season of life.
We believe that strong mamas raise strong futures, and that a healthier pregnancy builds a stronger tomorrow. But “strong” doesn’t mean a certain size or a certain lift. It means feeling capable, resilient, and at home in your body, whatever it’s doing right now.
Our values
Evidence over trends
We build on official guidelines and peer-reviewed research rather than viral challenges or the latest fad. When the science is uncertain, we say so. When a trend doesn’t hold up, we skip it.
Progress over perfection
Missed workouts, takeout nights, and short sleep are part of real life. Our guides are built with flexible options so you can pick back up anywhere, without guilt and without starting over.
Every body, every season
Pregnant, postpartum, years past baby, never had a baby, dad, teen, or kid: you’re welcome here. We don’t do weight shaming, “bounce back” pressure, or one-size-fits-all rules.
Beautifully simple tools
Design is part of how we help. Every guide is organized to be easy to follow, printable, and calm to look at, because tools you enjoy using are tools you actually use.
How we create our guides
Every program, planner, and article on Steady & Strong goes through the same careful process:
- Researched from trusted sources. We start with official guidance, such as ACOG, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, plus peer-reviewed studies and position statements. Our articles list their sources so you can read further.
- Translated into plain language. We turn clinical recommendations into clear, practical steps: what to do, how often, and how to tell if something doesn’t feel right.
- Designed to be printable and beautiful. Guides are laid out as clean, US Letter PDFs with weekly schedules, checklists, and trackers you can print or use on a tablet.
- Reviewed for clarity and safety cues. Before anything is published, we review it for accuracy against its sources, readability, and clear “stop and check with your provider” guidance where it matters.
- Updated as guidance evolves. Recommendations change over time. When they do, we revisit our content.
